Provide equal opportunities to boys and girls, says British MP

Amritsar, October 10,2013-Expressing concern over the status of women in the country, member of British parliament Mary Macleod said that she would raise the issues of gender-based discrimination, domestic violence and child marriage in the British parliament.Macleod was addressing an interactive session jointly organised by Action India, Voluntary Health Association of Punjab and Save Daughter Campaign.Underlining the need to change the attitude of the masses towards boys and girls by providing equal opportunities in terms of education and work opportunities, she also stressed the need to amend the laws governing domestic violence, discrimination and child marriage. “I shall raise these issues in the British parliament, and extend all possible support to people doing exemplary work in these areas,” she said.
