Ambassador of Taiwan in India pays obeisance at Golden Temple

Amritsar, October 13, 2013- Ambassador of Taiwan in India Chung Kwang Tien, who visited Khalsa College , said his country was looking forward to “more intense” cultural and trade ties with India. Praising the history and culture of Punjab, he said that intensification of ties between the two societies would help foster long-lasting relations between the two nations.
Tien was on his way to Attari border after paying obeisance at  the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh, when he paid a visit to the college, built in 1892. Impressed by the grand architecture of the college, he also watched a bhangra performance and said educational institutions could play a great role in establishing dialogue between various communities and nations.  He also held an informal meeting with college principal Daljit Singh and showed keen interest in organising educational tour programmes between the two countries.
“We want exchange programmes for teachers and students for a better understanding of each other’s culture,” he added.  He also showed interest in the agriculture faculty of the college and said that he wanted his country’s farmers to be inspired by the success stories from Punjab.
