Three research departments to be set up in university : Dean Reserach


Chandigarh, October 6, 2013 : Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib Dean Research Dr. B.S. Bhatia  informed that three  Research Departments-Guru Arjun Dev Center for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies, Bhai Gurdas Center for Sikh Studies and Guru Nanak Dev Center for Sikh Music will be set up in the university.
Dr Bhatia informed today that  the objective of setting up Guru Arjun Dev Centre for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies is to carryout authentic research in to various aspects of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and to spread its message universally. Bhai Gurdas Center for Sikh Studies named after the first Sikh Scholar Bhai Gurdas and  the center will carried out authentic research in Sikh Heritage, Culture, Philosophy, Sikh Martyrs, Sikh way of life and all aspects of Sikh living and thinking.
Guru Nanak Dev Center for Sikh Music is to carry out research in various dimensions of Ragas in which the whole Sri Guru Granth Sahib has been compiled and the Sikh Musical traditions including Dhadhi, Ragi's, Kavishar, Folk singer, Belle Singer etc. It was also decided to prepare an encyclopedia of Sikh Music. The university vice chancellor Dr Gurmohan Singh Walia will assess the staff requirement for the above such departments.
 He informed the university has decides to approve the introduction of Punjabi as compulsory subject in all the Under Graduate courses including Engineering and Professional courses.  Similarly all the students of the University will have to clear a compulsory paper of Communication, Soft Skills and Personality Development.
