Guru Gobind Singh Medical College authorities lodged a police complaint




Faridkot, October 13(Raghbir Singh Brar)-The Guru Gobind Singh Medical College authorities have lodged a police complaint alleging that the sympathisers of a former cancer department doctor had misbehaved with the university officials a few days ago. “The police have received a complaint from the principal’s office of the medical college alleging that the sympathisers of Dr Manjeet Jaura, former assistant professor with the cancer department, had misbehaved with the some of the university officials and demanding action. We have already recorded the statement of the one of the affected officials,” said Gurmeet Singh Randhawa, SSP, Faridkot.
Darshan Singh Sidhu, the registrar of the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, confirmed that the sympathisers of the Dr Jaura had misbehaved with him in his office. “The doctor had resignation has been accepted and he was relieved from the post on Friday,” Sidhu confirmed.

“As the verification of the record of the cancer patients/ medicines and all other documents pertaining to the chemist shops inside the medical college and hospital is underway, involvement of many others in the alleged loot of the cancer patients may come to the fore,” said Gurpreet Singh Chandbaja, president of Bhai Kanahia Cancer Roko Seva Society, Faridkot.
Earlier, Faridkot police had arrested Puneet Tayal, the sole authorised chemist who was running five chemist shops in the medical college. He is facing charges of cheating and forgery on the complaint of Jaspal Singh, who had alleged that besides overcharging him ` 1,698 for the cancer medicines for the treatment of his daughter Harpreet Kaur, 18, the chemist had later issued him a fake bill worth ` 2,304 and asked him to claim the amount from the CM’s cancer relief fund.
“We have sought all the record related to about 800 cancer patients and documents pertaining to allotment process of chemist shops,” said Gurjeet Singh Romana, DSP, Jaitu, who is heading the special investigation team probing the case.
